Open adoption

Having children and raising a family has always been part of our plan. We tried for several years to conceive a child, but we were unable to get pregnant even with the assistance of specialists. Experiencing infertility left us feeling disappointed, but not discouraged. Our decision to build our family through open adoption came after a significant amount of reading and discussions with adoptive parents, birth parents, and friends who were adopted. We believe that open adoption, where we develop a positive, strong, and long lasting relationship with our child's birth family, is in everyon's best interest, particularly the  child.

In November 2004, our daughter, Emilia Jasmine, came into our lives through an open adoption. Andrea, Emilia's birth mother, and her extended family live locally and we are fortunate to spend time with them throughout the year. Andrea is a special young woman and she will always be a very important part of our lives.

Once again, we are seeking to grow our family through an open adoption. We have plenty of room in our hearts and our home for another child and his or her birth family. We anticipate that it is going to double everything we are experiencing now, more laughter, more love, more baby wipes, more diapers, and more responsibility. We are ready and excited!
